Bloomberg Law recently released a report detailing the current gender pay gap in Intellectual Property (IP) law. The report contains staggering figures. Male IP partners’ compensation is 53% higher on average than women’s. The article also discusses general counsel compensation: pay is 39% higher for men compared to women.
The report also described different performance and tasks taken on by women, who spend more time on administrative tasks compared to men; are more involved with mentoring junior attorneys; and spend more time on diversity and inclusion activities.
Despite the stark differences, the report mentions that the future may be brighter with more women on the partnership/management track.
